Welcome Stranger in search of the hidden gems of Hinduism. Here I shall reveal to you the wisdom and truth in one of the world's
oldest and magnificent religions. Hinduism is anything but that. Instead, it is a way of life, it is a way of practice.
Religion is eternal and is the property of all people. Any attempt to remove it from the masses will be waste of time.
Whether one likes it or not, it is soaked in every individual and cannot be removed from them. The purpose of religion is
to create a divine consciousness. Hinduism is secular and gives scope to follow any of the numerous gods, in any manner he
likes. It says all religions should be honored. The basic feature is its unity in diversity. Religion includes the control
of emotions and senses. Baghvad-Gita says that pleasures enjoyed by man will be like nectar in the beginning but will turn
as poison after some time. Religious exercises may appear painful in the start but will be sweet in the end. The Hindu religion
is a living force. It is based on the experience and spiritual realization of sages and saints. It is built on the firm foundation
of the law of righteousness. The law spells out a charter of duties in the daily life of man to achieve spiritual progress.
Cultivation of religious outlook alone will help a man to face and solve problems. A man is provided with plenty of opportunities
and gifts to enable him to develop an out standing personality. The role of religion is to lift him to a higher plane and
take him to the reality. Hinduism upholds the traditional values and follows a civilized path. Mankind is fortunate to have
epics like Ramayana and Mahabharat. Ramayana contains directives for a man to behave perfectly, confining himself to moral
law. Bhagavad-Gita projects the theoretical aspects as how a man should conduct himself during his brief stay here in this
world, while Ramayana serves as a practical book to make him lead a life based on virtue. The spiritual evolution of man is
a long process in which he has to seek guidance from the epics to progress on the path. It is best to follow that which has
been practiced by the Lord Himself. The Ramayana illustrates how God-incarnate conducted Himself amongst citizens and made
them happy. He shared their grief and showed how His heart bled when they suffered. Hence God stays with devotees all times.
But devotees should hold on with faith to His feet firmly and surrender to Him. To such devotees He reveals His presence also.
God rushes to the rescue of His devotees has been proved beyond doubt in many instances. One of the outstanding examples is
the uninterrupted flow of garment to Draupati in Mahabharat.
Lessons from the beyond
Ramayana and Mahabharat are two great Indian epics, which are relevant for all ages. One of the best methods to please
God and win His grace is to recite Ramayana and Bhagavad-Gita. They indicate what constitutes righteousness and what are prohibited
acts. Both the epics bring out God's grace. The Lord descended on the earth to protect the pious and punish the evildoers.
A person gains merit for his pious and noble deeds and gets punished for sins has been clearly spelt out in the epics. How
to avoid the prohibited acts has been laid down in sacred works. The Lord is ever merciful. There is no need to ask Him to
grant our needs. To serve, obey His directives and abide by His dictates are the privileges conferred on a devotee. Ramayana
is like ocean. Like Shiva, we also should keep Rama-Nama in our hearts. Always think about Rama. Remember, there can be neither
happiness nor peace even in a dream if we forget RAMA's name. It is great fortunate to secure a human body. It is a gateway
for spiritual endeavor salvation. People who devote their minds to the pleasures of senses even after obtaining human birth
is like exchanging nectar for poison. Out of love God has given this human form and only by His grace we can cross the ocean
of birth and death. The main theme underlying in Mahabharata emphasizes that unscrupulous and unethical conduct, duplicity
and evil deeds will never pay. One can achieve perfection and reach God only through righteousness and truth. The epic filled
with devotion projects Vidura's intellectual wisdom, Kunti's devotion to Krishna, Gandhari's chastity and other spiritual
values. It is an encyclopedia of laws and rules. The glorious, holy, purifying, blessed Ramayana and Bhagavad-Gita bring happiness.
They bestow both wisdom and devotion. They wipe out lust infatuation and impurity. Men who with deep devotion recite or listen
to Ramayana and Bhagavad-Gita are never touched by worldly illusions. They are the symbols of divine light and divine happiness.
May we all have His divine blessings!
